Do you remember when "being a badass" meant you jumped from the top of a kid's slide? Well, I was the kid who always did a dare. No matter what, from a young age I learnt to never break a promise. I realized by the age of 13 that dares were an exception but, by then it was sheer habitat. It's been 16 years since then, I can't believe it. We were dumb.
It was my second year in high school. Me and my friends were what you would call "the outcasts". Me and my friend Nic recently heard about an abandoned school. Turns out the lack of good law-abiding teachers caused the school to close down. Whenever I asked him about he said he knew about it. But, after we asked some kid named James (he was known as a giant horror creep) asked if me and Nic could go to this school and get some pictures for him.
That night we decided to sneak out and get some pictures. We eventually got to the school. There it was the sign simply said "Pikeville Middle School". We walked up to the door "Damn, it's locked" Nic mumbled. "Maybe there is another way" I whispered. We went all the way to the back and luckily the door was unlocked.
Whenever, we got in we saw the halls. They looked so empty and devoid of life it was pretty cool. We explored the rooms taking pictures. Until we got to the gym, I remember we saw this man and child standing there. They weren't moving or even breathing just standing. We decided it was best to go away.
But, when we entered a classroom by the name of "Mr.Heyworthe's Science class" All we found was that same girl in all the desks. There was probably 30 versions of her sitting in all the desks and, there he stood that tall man. He was breathing rapidly and like he just got punched in the gut. Then she said, something I will never forgot with little voice she cried "He... He hurt me."
We bolted out there like a bat out of hell chasing nothing and running like the devil himself was behind us. After that James asked what happened and sadly I told him. He spread the story through the whole school and somehow they believed him. Then, people started asking me and I just replied with the simple but shattering "Fuck off." But, yesterday I found a news paper and it said "20 years after mysterious Heyworthe murder. Still no evidence."
